If you fail to pass twice, you are obliged to follow 6 hours of practical lessons at a recognised driving school. You take a practical test with your own car and supervisor or under the supervision of a driving school. In this case your provisional driving licence is valid for 36 months. You may only practise if at least one of these supervisors is with you in the car. You immediately apply to your local council for your provisional driving licence and choose 2 supervisors whom you register on your driving licence. ![]() Provisional driving licence with supervision In this case your provisional driving licence is valid for 18 months. You are now allowed to drive without supervision. Only then can you apply to your local council for your provisional driving licence. If they think you can practise on your own, you will be given a certificate of competence. You first follow 20 hours of driving lessons at a recognised driving school. ![]() Provisional driving licence without supervision You can choose which type of provisional driving licence you want. If you pass, you must take an eyesight test at the test centre and you will obtain a document with which you can apply for your provisional driving licence. If you fail to pass twice, you are obliged to follow 12 hours of theory lessons at a recognised driving school. To prepare for the test, you may either study the material yourself or take theory lessons at a recognised driving school. You must sit the theory test at a test centre.
